War Paint – Ears Solo Exhibition

I have been completely slack with my posts lately, which I completely blame on a long and painful renovation (more on the reno nightmare in blogs to come). But this blog, in particular is way over due. I wrote about an upcoming exhibition by Ears called “War Paint” a while back, the exhibition is long gone but I thought you might still be interested in seeing the artwork he created, in case you didn’t get a chance to make it to the exhibition yourself.

“War Paint” was on exhibition at Lo-Fi Collective (383 Bourke Street, Darlinghurst). This was my first visit to Lo-Fi Collective and this huge exhibition space is in a great location just off Oxford Street. The evening started off on a high when I snagged a parking spot just across the street from the exhibition (it doesn’t take much to keep me happy – but seriously this was an awesome parking spot!) But back to the artwork – I loved it. The strong black backgrounds pulled you in for a closer look and the artworks spilled off the canvases onto the walls. While I couldn’t afford to add to my Ears collection, I did buy a booklet which contained copies of  his sketches – some recognisable from his street art, others I hadn’t seen before. Can’t wait to see what’s next from Ears.

Ended a great night with some delicious Indian just around the corner at The Clove Restaurant. Samosa’s to die for. (They have a shockingly bad website – but lucky they cook better that they do web design).
