Two Chaps, Marrickville

Two Chaps is a relative newcomer to Marrickville. Hidden behind a roller door on Chapel Street, this little gem is located just down the road from the Henson Hotel. What was once a welding shop has now been transformed by Piero Pignatti Morano and Richard Maxfield into a part cafe, part workshop where they create their tea, coffee and work on their bikes.

Not only are Morano and Maxfield the creators of Sticky Chai (a spiced honey soaked tea) but they are also roasting their own coffee label, Blind Man Coffee on site. Clearly handy with bikes which are wall mounted, the open kitchen and industrial feel of the space is perfectly Marrickville.

While the menu might be limited, the taste of what’s on offer certainly isn’t. The menu features daily house-made cakes and muffins, seasonal salads and sandwiches. The produce used is predominantly organic and sourced from close by or made by the guys themselves. The mushroom, haloumi and egg toastie with roast beetroot relish was delicious and only $8. All bread is baked on-site.

Two very clever chaps.
