'Hit the Bricks' is on this weekend
The street art addict within me is more than a little excited about what’s happening this weekend. Look Hear is hosting the HIT THE BRICKS street art festival which will showcase the creative work of over 20 artists, both local and international, on walls throughout Newcastle CBD. You’re probably asking yourself why am I promoting this event when it’s clearly not in my much loved...

“The Night’ with Nico, Ox and SMC3

It’s finally happening! Three of my favourite local artists who also happen to be super talented, as well as absolutely lovely guys are coming together in a group show this Friday. Nico, OX and SMC3 have created some amazing walls for all to enjoy around the Inner West and now they are showcasing their different styles in ‘The Night’, an exhibition that opens this Friday, 13 December...

Interview with Street Artist: SMC3

Interview with Street Artist: SMC3
SMC3 is well known for both his paste-ups and painted walls throughout the Inner West. His creative characters brighten many Inner West walls and laneways and his sushi ninja in the Kuki Tanuki Japanese Restaurant in Erskineville is one of my favourites. Tomorrow night (Friday 3 May) is the opening of his solo exhibition ‘Upside-Down Underground’ showcasing his latest illustrations and...

SMC3 at the Crumpler Store on King Street

SMC3 at the Crumpler Store on King Street
Every time I head to Newtown I love walking past the Crumpler store to see if there’s been a new street art creation on the wall outside the store. On the weekend I noticed the Skulk design had been replaced with a new artwork by street artist SMC3. This is the same artist that painted the fantastic characters on the walls inside the Japanese Restaurant, Kuki Tanuki on Erskineville Road. For...

Interview with Street Artist: Skulk

Interview with Street Artist: Skulk
I have long been a fan of the work of street artist Skulk and it’s always a pleasure finding his charaters around the Inner West. Most will recognise his current work next to the Crumpler store (photo above – middle) which is part of a constantly changing street art exhibition for all the pedestrians on King Street. Other all time favourites of mine include a collaborative wall at the...

Street Art on King Street continues to impress!

Street Art on King Street continues to impress!
I’m impressed, yet again! Three amazing artworks have been created since my last update on the revolving street art exhibition on King Street. Ears and Birdhat both showcased their work outside the Crumpler Store throughout the early months of 2012 and in that last couple of days street artist Skulk has made his mark. This is the first time I have seen his work here and I hope he becomes a regular...

Great Garage Doors of the Inner West

Great Garage Doors of the Inner West
Nothing beats walking down the streets and through the lanes of the Inner West and finding great art on garage doors. There are some amazing designs out there. When I finally get around to fixing my dodgy back fence I need to find a street artist who can transform mine from a boring wooden paling fence into a work of art. Some of the street artists that have redesigned these garage doors throughout Newtown,...

Kuki Tanuki Japanese Bar, Erskineville

Kuki Tanuki Japanese Bar, Erskineville
I’m back! I’ve spent the last couple of months entertaining in-laws from overseas, taking them on an eating tour around Sydney and throughout the Inner West and have been an all-round tour guide extraordinaire. Well that’s my excuse for being a slacko in my posting and I’m sticking to it! Since food has been a major part of my Christmas and holiday break I thought I should...
