Brighton the Corner, Petersham

Brighton the Corner, Petersham
Brighton The Corner is a new cafe in Petersham, only about one month old and already drawing a crowd. Scott Duncan and Nigel Park have created a cafe in a beautiful leafy street with a perfect corner position. Enjoy your coffee outside under the black and white striped awning, at the window seat overlooking Brighton Street or at a cosy table inside.  I love an all day breakfast menu and Brighton...

Daisy’s Milkbar, Petersham

Daisy's Milkbar, Petersham
Inspired by the old Aussie milk bar, Daisy’s Milkbar is a welcome addition to the Inner West. The delicious food and friendly staff, lemonade stand and the colourful wooden booths will put a big smile on your face when you visit. Only one week old, it’s easy to see why there’s already of line of people waiting to try it out. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich with slaw was delicious, as...

A Hidden Gem – Sub Station Cafe

A Hidden Gem - Sub Station Cafe
I’ve just discovered that converting an electricity sub station into a cafe is a brilliant idea! Electric Substation 152 in Alexandria has been beautifully renovated, given new life and is now Sub-Station Cafe. I can’t believe that it’s taken me 6 months to discover this hidden gem! The owners have transformed the limited space into a fantastic indoor and outdoor area with a gorgeous...

Wagaya Tapas Newtown

Wagaya Tapas Newtown
I’m already a regular at Wagaya Tapas in Newtown. The food is awesome,  it’s located in the heart of Newtown and it’s a great option for a cheap meal out! For all the gadget lovers out there (including my partner), the ipad ordering system is fun, fast and convenient and lets you keep track of how much you’re spending. Not waiting for someone to take your order is always a...

Inner West Instagram Addict

Inner West Instagram Addict
It’s official, I’m addicted to Instagram. I don’t know how to stop! For those who haven’t heard of Instagram it’s a free photo sharing program which was launched in October 2010. It allows users to take a photo on their phone, apply a digital filter to it, and then share it on a variety of social networking services, including Instagram and Facebook. I love the square...

Revolver, Annandale

Revolver, Annandale
The food of the Inner West just gets better and better. On one of my recents visits to NOM Pizza to get my pizza fix, the guys told me about this little gem of a cafe in Annandale. Since my first visit to Revolver, everyone who I have tried to tell about this great foodie destination already knows about it. How did it remain a secret from me for so long? Revolver is a gorgeous corner terrace, oozing...

Bread & Circus in Alexandria

Bread & Circus in Alexandria
Food, glorious food! The gourmet tour through Alexandria continues at the fabulous Bread and Circus Wholefoods Canteen. I’ve visited Bread & Circus several times and each time, despite the locals of Alexandria trying to keep this one a secret they have failed miserably and its always packed! For Inner Westies who enjoy a nice cup of tea, you are going to love this place. They have an amazing...

A Match Made in Heaven – Koskela & Kitchen By Mike

A Match Made in Heaven - Koskela & Kitchen By Mike
The Inner West is a hub for great food and design. New places are constantly opening and the two newbies on the block are Koskela & Kitchen By Mike! Koskela is an insanely cool design and furniture store, which was originally located in Surry Hills and has now moved to Rosebery and shares a warehouse space with Kitchen By Mike. Food and design under the one roof, as far as I’m concerned...

The Grounds, Alexandria

The Grounds, Alexandria
I’m a lover of design and the newbie in the industrial landscape of Alexandria, The Grounds, showcases an appreciation of design in every aspect of its construction and presentation. I drove past The Grounds about a month ago and did a double take because it was still under construction but it already looked super cool. Needless to say I couldn’t wait to check it out once the doors had...

Gioia Café, Leichhardt

Gioia Café, Leichhardt
The building that now holds Gioia Café was once a rundown BP service station.  Although the skeleton of the station remains the petrol fumes have long been replaced with the delicious scent of traditional Italian wood oven pizza. I have been to Gioia twice now and highly recommend it. The pizzas come out on a thin base with the perfect balance of cheese and toppings to create a sumptuous pizza bursting...
