Pastizzi Cafe and their little bundles of goodness

What was once referred to as the arse end of King Street, South King Street is now a hive of great restaurants and cafes, vintage stores and shops which sell great art, clothing and accesories. I am a huge fan of the south end!

The Pastizzi Cafe with its little bundles of puff pastry goodness is well worth the walk down to the south end of King. Sure, it wouldn’t pass as a Weight Watchers meal option but they are seriously good and a delicious little treat. Originally on Crown Street in the city, this cafe serves fresh and frozen pastizzis, ravioli and pasta. The pastizzis are $2 each or you can buy 12 for $18.

We tried a selection of the ‘melt in your mouth’ pastizzi, the gnocchi and I would definitley go back for the Spaghetti Marinara.  The coffee is great too, and what better place to sit back and watch people walk by on South King Street.

Note that the current Pastizzi Cafe is not the original. Back in April there was a falling out between the owners and Debbie and Lenny (along with all the staff) were forced out of the business. Most locals have boycotted it since.

I had no idea! Has anything been resolved?

  3. melissa says:

Not yet resolved, the real owners are working through the legal processes with their lawyers. I haven’t been in since what happened, but it is mighty quiet these days. Looking forward to Debbie and Lenny being back at the helm of the real Pastizzi in Newtown!

It is all resolved now with Debbie and Lenny back in their rightful place! They had to go to the Supreme Court and get the other partner thrown out. It might be good to do a follow up review Nadine….to spread the word that the original owners are back in place. Their Facebook page has more info, it sure was an interesting time…

Great to hear… will definitely have to come back soon!
