May Lane Newbies + Old Favourites

The May Lane Art Project is an amazing outdoor gallery space located in St Peters and I am a frequent visitor because it’s constantly changing and it’s a free art gallery that’s avaliable to everyone. There are five main panels that are positioned along the side of a building in May Lane and artists are invited to use the entire building as their canvas, or they can focus on the panels which are then kept each month as part of a larger project to document street art. Everytime I walk through the lane I see something different, it might be a small sculptural addition by Will Coles or the whole laneway may have been given a facelift.

There has been a lot of activity in May Lane over the last couple of weeks including work by Numskull, Phibs, Shoe, Kamion and heaps more, so I thought I should share some of my recent discoveries as well as some old favourites.

Hi Nadine, you seem quite knowledgeable on the inner west and I was hoping you could clarify something for me. I’m confused as to whether may lane is legal or not? is it a case where I have to just ask permission from the owners of the building? It would be great if you could help me out, thanks.

Hi Nick, as far as I know it is not a legal wall and you do need to ask permission off the owners of the building :)
