Marrickville Road is full of surprises

It’s not everyday you can walk down a street and say “There is a shark on the roof!” It is also a very strange thing to be seeing in the Inner West of Sydney, not a well known area for shark spotting. For those of you that may not be familiar with Marrickville Road, it has some interesting roof art going on. The shark on the end of a fishing line above the Marrickville Seafood shop is my favourite.

The creativity on Marrickville Road extends from the roofs to the footpath. It was only after taking my nieces for a walk down Marrickville Road and hearing squeals of delight everytime they walked over a mosaic on the footpath that I took the time to look at what I have walked over countless times without noticing. I have no idea who did them but the designs are colourful and creative and I now pay special attention to the footpath everytime I walk down the street. I have heard the mosaics go all the way up to Dulwich Hill!
