Inner West Spring Festival line-up

Despite what the weather might be telling us, Spring is definitely here and the festival season is well and truly upon us. I visited the Summer Hill Neighbourhood Feast Festival on Sunday and despite the hot conditions there as a massive turnout with food stalls lining the streets. The line up of Spring Festivals over the next couple of months is sure to keep Inner Westies busy. Put these dates in your diary.

Marrickville Festival
Sunday 20 October 2013, 10am – 5pm
Location: Marrickville Road and Illawarra Road

The Marrickville Festival brings together cultures, and creative communities with a feast of international cuisine, live music and entertainment. With over 120 stalls displaying local produce, handmade artisan works, gifts and community groups as well as a Main Stage program which includes performances from The Cleanskins, Marcus Corowa, Rosie + The Bees,  The Ukes of Today, The Protesters, Gang of Brothers, Nova & the Experience and Righteous Voodoo. Don’t miss the The Break music competition and a range of free activities for kids as well as a host of activities for the whole family.

Surry Hills Festival 2013
Sunday 27 October 2013
Prince Alfred Park, Chalmers St, Sydney

Held every year this event draws tens of thousands of people by featuring diverse music, street theatre, market stalls, a food and wine fair and dog show.

Norton Street Italian Festa
Sunday 27 October 2013, 10am to 5pm
Location: Norton Street, Leichhardt

A celebration of community spirit and everything that makes Australia great, with an Italian slant. Festa is a celebration of what makes Leichhardt special and why up to 100,000 people attend each year. This year Festa celebrates its 27th birthday with carnival rides, jumping castles, rock climbing, animal farms, face painting and puppet shows for the kids, organic markets, entertainment, concerts, dancing competitions and free cooking demonstrations.

Newtown Festival 2013
Sunday 10 November
Camperdown Memorial Rest Park

This is the 35th Anniversary of the Newtown festival and I love the poster design which highlights Newtown’s diverse and creative community.  The Newtown Festival is always a great event filled with great food, music and entertainment and all money raised by your donations go directly back  to the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre to provide support services to the local community.

Glebe Street Fair 2013

Glebe Point Road (between Parramatta and Bridge Roads)

Glebe Street Fair turns 30 this year! The Glebe Street Fair was first held in its current form in 1984. There will be a kilometre long centre of fun, filled with stalls, tasty international food, kids’ rides, entertainment and activities. One of Sydney ’s longest running annual events, attracting more than 100,000 people every November.

Dulwich Hill Community Fair
Sunday 1 December 2013, 10am-4pm
Location: Marrickville Road (between New Canterbury Road and Durham Lane)

The fair celebrates the delights of the Dulwich Hill Village with live entertainment, children’s activities and a huge mix of market stalls including handicrafts, home wares, children’s toys and clothing and homemade preserves and sweets, all celebrating the diversity and quality of local produce.
