It has been ages since my last post but I have a good excuse – I have just returned from a trip to South America! A fantastic journey from Rio, Brazil through Uruguay and finishing in Buenos Aires, Argentina. While this blog may not be about the inner west I thought some inner westies out there might want to check out the awesome graffiti I saw on my travels. Talented artists those South Americans! One of the great things about King Street is that it is constantly changing. New stores, new restaurants, new people, new music and always new art. I love walking down King Street, past the Crumpler store (305 King Street, Newtown) and checking out the constantly rotating free art exhibition painted right outside the store. These are the last three creations… can’t wait to see what will... 

I have been completely slack with my posts lately, which I completely blame on a long and painful renovation (more on the reno nightmare in blogs to come). But this blog, in particular is way over due. I wrote about an upcoming exhibition by Ears called “War Paint” a while back, the exhibition is long gone but I thought you might still be interested in seeing the artwork he created, in... 

Seriously twisted and seriously mine! This the creative work of Ears. If you want one of his creations for your very own you will have to check out his upcoming solo exhibition. ‘War Paint’ is on exhibition at Lo-Fi Collective, 383 Bourke Street Darlinghurst. Opening this Saturday, 11 September at 6pm. I love his street art, I love his work on canvas, I can’t wait to see this exhibition!... 

Opposite the railway line at Macdonaldtown station (adjacent to Pine St) is a famous mural known as the “Three Proud People”. The mural signifies the 1968 stance of 3 athletes who stood in defiance on the Olympic medal podium. During the American national anthem John Carlos and Tommie Smith gave the raised fist salute as a sign of black power and in protest on behalf of the Olympic Project...

Woohoo! I have two new artworks to put on my already packed walls.  Each time I walk into the the house announcing I have bought a new artwork, I usually just get a shake of the head from my husband followed by “Where are you going to put that? We don’t have any walls left!” While I would love to have street artists paint an internal wall of my house that might have to wait until...

I had the pleasure of walking past the beautiful Skippy Girls this week. They brought a big smile to my face and I hope they bring one to yours. Originally painted in 1998 the Skippy Girls have been tagged and destroyed several times, but always lovingly restored by local residents. Next time you need a bit of cheering up, walk along Wilson Street and watch the girls skipping along the corrugated... 

I popped into the Oh Really Gallery last night for some live painting by Houl and live improvised hip hop by members of The Dyno Mics. The gallery was opened by street artists Max Berry, Daniel O’Toole (Ears) and Jamie Nimmo. Great art, great music, great beer. What more could you ask for on a Thursday night.
