Gigi Pizzeria on King

Gigi Pizzeria on King
Gigi Pizzeria combines two of my favourite things… food and street art! Gigi’s offers a range of great Italian dishes and delicious pizzas with a fanstastic wall of graffiti as a backdrop created by the super talented Ears (who I have a big graffiti crush on!). Nothing beats a great calzone and Gigi’s does an awesome one with ricotta and prosciutto, so good in fact that I have had...

A crazy world of antiques and design

A crazy world of antiques and design
The Antique and Design Gallery in Alexandria has to be seen to be believed. You can’t miss this bright yellow warehouse as you drive along Mitchell Road and it brings new meaning to the phrase “jam packed”! The ground floor is full (literally packed from the floor to the ceiling) with pre-loved items of furniture, clothing, accessories, instruments, surfboards, bicycles… you...

Ramen Bar…Art in a bowl

Ramen Bar...Art in a bowl
The Ramen Bar is a relative newbie on the Inner West block. It opened in March this year and has a unique location inside the Berkelouw Books store on O’Connell Street in Newtown (just off King Street). For those who might not be familiar with ramen, it is a delicious traditional Japanese noodle soup.  The Ramen Bar has 10 ramen dishes to choose from and I can best describe them as “art...

My favourite street art discoveries this month…

My favourite street art discoveries this month...
I feel like I have been a bit slack with my street art postings of late. Since getting my new phone I have been so excited about being able to upload my findings straight onto the I love the inner west facebook page I may have been forgetting to post them on the blog. So I am going to make up for that right now! Here are a few of my favourite street art discoveries this month. I need to get out there...

Inner West Caffeine Hit List

Inner West Caffeine Hit List
Whether you are a serious caffeine addict or just an occasional recreational user this will be a very valuable list to keep handy. Some of you may have picked up The Sydney Morning Herald Good Cafe Guide for 2011, but for those of you who didn’t, here it it. The guide rates the cafes who have the best coffee and there are several Inner West winners. The cafes are rated by cups (similar to the...

That Vintage Shop + more

That Vintage Shop + more
Walking up Enmore Road, heading to Newtown for lunch, I recently discovered the treasure trove that is That Vintage Shop.  Located on Enmore Road (right across from Enmore Park and the new Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre), That Vintage Shop is vintage plus a whole lot more. It is an eclectic mix of furniture, accessories, chandeliers, bird cages, kitchen utensils, artwork and door handles....

Bitton Cafe + so much more

Bitton Cafe + so much more
Is it any wonder why I can no longer fit into my jeans when I am surrounded by so many great cafes in the Inner West that I just HAVE to try. Bitton Cafe and Grocer on Copeland Street, Erkskineville has been on my list for a while and it certainly didn’t disappoint! Everytime I walk past Bitton Cafe it seems to be completely packed. To avoid disappointment on the weekend we booked to ensure...

Interview: Beth Taylor “Breadtag World”

Interview: Beth Taylor
I will never look at a breadtag in the same way again! I dropped into Sweets Workshop to check out Breadtag World which is the current solo exhibition by inner westie, Beth Taylor. After hearing about how she created her artwork completely from breadtags I had to see it for myself. Big thanks to Beth for giving us an insight into her art, inspiration and process.  The exhibition is on until Wednesday...

I’m a famous potato!

I'm a famous potato!
Not only am I an Inner West addict but I should also seek professional help regarding my addiction to potatoes. I love them. It doesn’t matter if they are mashed, roasted, fried, boiled – you name it, I will eat it! So I was very excited when I stumbled across the Highland Gourmet Potato stall at the Eveleigh Farmers Market on the weekend and met Norman. I mean how can I not love potatoes...

Petty Cash Cafe on Enmore Park

Petty Cash Cafe on Enmore Park
Cute! Cute! Cute! I love this place. I visited the Petty Cash Cafe for the first time on the weekend (thanks to a recommendation of my friend Mark) and I have fallen in love! There are so many great things about this place…. where to start? Ok, maybe I should narrow it down to the top 10 things I love about Petty Cash Cafe otherwise I could be here all day! 1. Location – right across from...
