Street Art Gallery in the Inner West

Street Art Gallery in the Inner West
The streets of the inner west are a constantly evolving art exhibition. Free for all to enjoy. There is sure to be something that appeals to everyone…paste-ups, graffiti and stencils galore. Every time I walk through the streets around Enmore and Newtown I always see something new! Enjoy. Graffiti [View with PicLens] ...

Zumba…NOT for me!

Zumba...NOT for me!
Ok! Let me set the scene. For several weeks now my sister has been trying to convince me to go to a Zumba class with her. For those of you who may not have heard of the world wide phenomenon that is ZUMBA it is supposed to be “an exhilerating, effective, easy to follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning, dance fitness-party”. They have got to be joking! Latin inspired… yes, but the...

Sweets Workshop…sweet, sweet, sweet!!!

Sweets Workshop...sweet, sweet, sweet!!!
I must have driven right past Sweets Workshop in Summer Hill countless times on the way to and from work and never knew it was there. It is a gorgeous little gallery space and store that specialises in illustrations, graphic design and all sorts of wonderful goodies from both Australian and International artist and designers. It wasn’t until last week, when I received an invitation to the Pen...

How much longer do we have to put up with this Labor Government?

How much longer do we have to put up with this Labor Government?
You think Gaddafi is bad, check out what the Labor Government of NSW just did. The Barangaroo development on Sydney harbour is being constructed over a contaminated site which needs to be very carefully managed and supervised in order to prevent contaminated groundwater from spilling into Sydney Habour. Two days ago the Planning Minister created legislation which in summary makes Barrangaroo the...

Sandy

Sandy
This week I made another great discovery on South King Street. I met Sandy, both the store and the very talented designer responsible for all the goodness contained within the store.  I was instantly attracted to the beautiful hand illustrated t-shirts that I saw in the window as I was walking by. The ‘bubble gum blowing girl’ t-shirt design lured me into the store and the visual delights...

Confessions of a Scootergirl

Confessions of a Scootergirl
I know I have been quiet lately but really I have had nothing to report, my love life is still dead in the water and to make matters worse I know it is not going to get any better any time soon. My current excuse would be that all I am doing right now is work, work and more work. So I have resigned myself to spinsterhood and booked another overseas holiday to Italy where at least I will get my bum...

Welcome home…from Jaanu

Welcome home...from Jaanu
How gorgeous is this floor mat! I bought it when I popped into Jaanu, on south King Street last week. It now takes pride of place at my front door. Great idea for anyone looking for a house warming present. It sure beats the boring “Welcome” mats. For those of you who might be curious about the name of the store, Jaanu means ‘sweetheart’ in Hindi. So pop into Jaanu and buy...

Kitchen Nightmares – Gordon Ramsay would be disgusted

Kitchen Nightmares - Gordon Ramsay would be disgusted
The original kitchen in my “renovators delight” property was completely disgusting. Because we were on such a tight budget we considered keeping it (hard for even myself to believe seeing these photos again). My sister slaved for several days cleaning the grime and filth out of the cupboards, she even scored an eye infection for the awful experience. Needless to say she wasn’t...

Movie Review: The Way Back, now showing at Dendy Newtown

Movie Review: The Way Back, now showing at Dendy Newtown
The Way Back is the highly anticipated new film from renowned Australian director Peter Weir, a man known for the acclaimed films Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, The Truman Show and Gallipoli. Audiences have now come to expect greatness from Weir, and despite The Way Back once again proving that Weir is gifted in making the grand visual epic, it does feel overlong and emotionally...

Art lovers in the inner west…this one is for you! Art Month is here!

Art lovers in the inner west...this one is for you! Art Month is here!
From 1-31 March it is Sydney’s Contemporary Visual Arts Festival… Art Month 2011. The amount of exhibitions, artists and gallery talks, open studios and creative conversations that will be happening this month is mind blowing. If you are an artist, an art collector or just a lover of all things art related, the month of March is going to be non stop, jammed packed, fun filled frivolity....
