Festival fever in Marrickville despite the crappy weather

Festival fever in Marrickville despite the crappy weather
Waking to the sound of pouring rain on Sunday did not bring a smile to my face. It was Marrickville Festival day – what a disaster. My only positive thought was that the festival wasn’t kicking off until 11am – maybe the weather might improve by then. No such luck. I headed up to Marrickville Road around lunchtime and had to jump over puddles and raging rivers in some laneways. But...

Ending an unsatisfactory online relationship

Ending an unsatisfactory online relationship
As you all know I didn’t get anything out of rsvp, and on the weekend I hit a miserable low point in my life. Why am I so fussy, surely out of the all the eligible bachelors on rsvp, between the himbos, fitness fanatics, travel to a new destination every week bachelors I could have met someone that was vaguely suitable. My friends want me to continue with rsvp and I want to give it the flick....

The person who invented the decorative cornice should be shot!

The person who invented the decorative cornice should be shot!
So the filling and sanding of walls is complete… well as complete as it can be in a 1920′s house that is full of cracks and holes that were hidden beind wallpaper. Two fireplaces have been removed due to various states of decay. The only problem with removing the fireplaces is the two empty spaces which I need to fill and match with the existing decorative cornice in the room. So I had...

Real estate in Marrickville has taken off!

Real estate in Marrickville has taken off!
Looks like I got into the real estate market just in time! What hope does anyone have if 2 bedroom units in Marrickville are selling for $4,450,000. Mind you that does include a garage, and in the inner west – that means big bucks!  Read More →

Harry’s Cafe de Wheels at Tempe

Harry's Cafe de Wheels at Tempe
Hungry, tired and covered from head to toe in dust and paint from our late night renovation blitz…the thought of going home and making something for dinner was far from appealing. The newly opened Harry’s Cafe de Wheels in Tempe was only a short drive away… how could we resist! Pulling into Harry’s Cafe de Wheels carpark I felt like I was entering an episode of “Happy...

Live Red Art Exhibition

Live Red Art Exhibition
As a welcome break from attempting to gyprock my dodgy kitchen walls I headed down to Marrickville Markets for some much needed energy food. Not happy to see my favourite noodle man had already packed up shop I decided to go for the yummy spinach and cheese gozleme and then went halvies in a Brassiere Bread choc brownie which was to die for AND a double baked almond croissant, oh I am sooo bad! Refueled,...

I am over rsvp!

I am over rsvp!
Ok so I have been trying to be open minded and positive about online dating but I have to vent now. I am over it. I have been been madly emailing, “chatting”, texting and dating for a few months now and what have I got to show for it? Nothing, zip, zero! This is just hard work. I have not met anyone even remotely close to being someone I would like to even hang out with. And what is it...

Rotating art exhibition on King Street

Rotating art exhibition on King Street
One of the great things about King Street is that it is constantly changing. New stores, new restaurants, new people, new music and always new art. I love walking down King Street, past the Crumpler store (305 King Street, Newtown) and checking out the constantly rotating free art exhibition painted right outside the store. These are the last three creations… can’t wait to see what will...

Cafe New Deli, Marrickville

Cafe New Deli, Marrickville
No kitchen, no fridge, no kettle, no clean surface anywhere! Currently renovating a 2 bedder in Marrickville and what am I to do without any of the basics needed to make a simple meal? Explore the local cafes, of course! I almost became a regular part of the furniture at Cafe New Deli (181 Marrickville Road) last week. First I tried the Lamb Burger (with feta, spanish onion, tomato, lettuce and the...
